About Wagging Trails
Welcome! We’re a calm, home-from-home day care and boarding service for small, friendly dogs based in Little Plumstead, just east of Norwich.
Hi, I’m Sam — a lifelong dog lover based in Little Plumstead, just east of Norwich. Alongside my partner Craig and our two Cavaliers, Bramble and Jasper, we’ve created Wagging Trails: a calm, home-from-home day care and boarding service for small, friendly dogs under 25 kg.
Here, your dog becomes part of our family.

We specialise in a small, membership-based day care and home boarding service that prioritises consistency, enrichment, and loving care. With a licence to care for up to four guest dogs, we keep things intentionally small — ensuring every dog receives close attention and becomes part of a familiar, well-matched group that includes our own two gentle Cavaliers.

Meet Our Dogs

-
Is Your Dog the Right Fit for Our Home? Before we book you in, let’s make sure we’re the right match for your lovely dog. We’d love to welcome your furry friend to our peaceful and cosy home! Our goal is to create a safe, happy, and relaxed environment for every dog we care for. To help ensure all guests settle in well and enjoy their time with us, we ask that dogs meet a few general guidelines. If you’re unsure about anything, don’t worry — just get in touch. We’re always happy to chat things through. Health and Safety Vaccinations All dogs must be fully vaccinated, including kennel cough. Flea and Worm Protection Regular preventative treatments help us maintain a clean, healthy space for everyone. Size, Neutering, and Energy Levels Small to Medium Dogs (Up to 25 kg) We’re best suited to dogs under 25 kg, especially those with gentle, easy-going natures. Neutering Neutered dogs are welcome to help maintain group balance. We may also accept calm, well-socialised non-neutered females, provided they’re not due in season and remain at home during that time. Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept non-neutered males. Energy Levels Low to moderate energy dogs thrive here — though we’re also happy to consider livelier dogs who can settle calmly during quiet times. Behaviour and Training Sociable and Friendly Dogs who enjoy gentle companionship (with people and other dogs) usually settle in beautifully. Well-Mannered Calm behaviour indoors, minimal barking, and polite play help keep the group peaceful and happy. Play Style We encourage relaxed, friendly play — like sniff-and-explore time or a calm game of chase. Rough or overly intense play styles aren’t a good match for our group. Basic Training Dogs who can respond to basic cues like come, sit, or stay often settle more quickly — though we’re happy to support friendly dogs still working on their manners. House-Trained All dogs must be fully house-trained and confident in a home setting. Safe Around Others For everyone’s wellbeing, we’re unable to accept dogs who display aggression, dominance, or resource guarding. Home Adaptability Stairs and Hard Floors Our home includes stairs and hard flooring, so dogs should be confident navigating them — or at least able to manage with a little help. Car Travel We take daily trips to the park, so dogs need to be okay with short car journeys. We’re always happy to help smaller or nervous dogs in and out of the car. A Calm, Stress-Free Environment Wagging Trails is designed to be a peaceful space where your dog can truly unwind. If they enjoy routine, friendly company, and a gentle pace of life, they’re likely to feel right at home here. Think your dog might be a great fit? Let’s take a closer look at how our weekly membership works.
-

Next step? Let’s take a look at how we introduce new dogs to the group.
-
How Do You Introduce New Dogs to Wagging Trails?Every dog deserves a calm, welcoming start. That’s why we’ve created a gentle, structured introduction process to help your dog settle in, feel at ease, and build confidence at their own pace — while giving us time to get to know them properly too. Meet-and-Greet We begin with a complimentary session at a calm, neutral location — usually a privately rented dog park. This relaxed setting allows us to: Observe your dog’s comfort and sociability in a relaxed space Introduce them to our own Cavaliers, Bramble and Jasper Chat about your dog’s personality, routine, and any special needs Answer your questions and talk through what to expect To maintain a settled home environment for our guests, we don’t hold meet-and-greets at our house — but you’re welcome to browse our Home Tour page or check out behind-the-scenes photos on our socials. Settling-In Period All new day care dogs go through a trial period across 6–8 sessions (typically over 3–4 weeks). This gives your dog time to: Adjust to our routine at their own pace Build gentle bonds with the group Explore the space without pressure This period includes: A complimentary 3–4 hour session as a gentle first introduction 4–6 full day care sessions to build confidence and observe how they settle If we feel that day care might not be the best fit, we’ll always speak openly and supportively — and we’re happy to recommend other options that may suit your dog better. Trial Sleepover (For Boarding) For dogs who may need overnight care in future, we offer a trial sleepover once they’re confident with day care. This helps us: Ensure they’re relaxed and comfortable staying overnight Introduce them gently to bedtime routines in our home Standard boarding rates apply, and once the trial is complete, they’ll be welcome for future overnight bookings. Full Day Care and Boarding Access Once the settling-in period is complete, your dog officially becomes part of our Wagging Trails family. They’ll benefit from: Routine, comfort, and familiar faces A calm, structured environment where they can truly relax Access to home boarding as needed, in a space they already know and trust Next up: Let’s look at our day care hours, booking process, and how payments work.

What Care Can My Dog Expect During Their Stay?At Wagging Trails, we treat your dog like family — with thoughtful routines, loving care, and a calm home setting that helps them feel safe and secure. Here’s what you can expect when your dog comes to stay with us for day care or overnight boarding. What to Bring To help your dog feel at home, please pack the following: Harness or Collar: A well-fitting harness is required for safe walking and car travel. Food: Please provide enough for their full stay, with clear feeding instructions. Medications or Supplements: Clearly label everything and include detailed instructions. Comfort Items (Optional): Familiar bedding, blankets, or a favourite toy can help your dog settle more easily. For day care, we only need essential items — such as a harness, any required medications, or food for medical reasons. Feeding Policy Day Care Dogs: Meals are not provided unless required for a vet-advised medical reason. Please make sure your dog has eaten before arriving and will be fed again at home. Boarding Dogs: We follow your instructions using the food you provide. Meals are served: No earlier than 6:30 am No later than 6:30 pm (if fed twice daily) If your dog eats once a day, just let us know your preference. Water and Treats: Fresh water is always available, and all dogs receive regular treats (with your permission) as part of their positive daily routine. Where Your Dog Will Sleep (Boarding Only) We replicate your dog’s normal sleeping routine as closely as possible. They may: Sleep in their own bed, an open crate, or on a comfy dog bed Stay in our bedroom or a quiet sleeping area, depending on what suits them best Use their own familiar bedding from home for added comfort During the day, dogs are welcome to relax in cosy dog beds, crates, or on the sofa — whatever feels most like home. Medication Administration We can safely administer vet-prescribed medications. To help us do this properly, please: Label all medications with name, dosage, and frequency Provide clear, written instructions We’ll administer them carefully and monitor your dog for any issues. Illness or Injury If your dog becomes unwell or injured while in our care: We will contact you straight away, or your emergency contact if you're unavailable We’ll seek care from your nominated vet or Rackheath Vets, depending on the urgency You’ll be kept informed as soon as it’s safe to do so Please notify your vet in advance that Wagging Trails may bring your dog in for care if needed. What We Provide We supply: Fresh water and food/water bowls (unless a slow feeder is required) Poo bags, crates for rest time (if needed), and plenty of treats Lots of love, attention, and a calm daily routine And don’t worry — if the weather takes a turn, we’ve got that covered too. Here’s how we adapt on days when the park isn’t safe or suitable.
-
Does Bad Weather Affect Visits to the Dog Park?Your dog’s safety and comfort always come first — even when the weather doesn’t cooperate. We love our daily park adventures, but if the weather becomes unsafe or uncomfortable, we adapt to make sure your dog still has a fun, relaxed, and enriching day. When We Skip the Park We may skip outdoor park visits during: Extreme heat or cold Heavy rain or snow Thunderstorms or high winds These conditions aren’t just unpleasant — they can be dangerous or overly stressful for dogs, especially in a group setting. What We Do Instead On indoor days, we keep your dog mentally and physically stimulated with a mix of: Interactive toys and feeding puzzles Calm indoor games and play One-on-one time with us for fuss, enrichment, or training practice Cosy relaxation in a safe, warm space with fresh water always available Your dog’s well-being is our priority — and once the weather improves, we’ll be right back out exploring together again. Speaking of outings — here’s how we make sure your dog is safe and identifiable at all times.
-
Is a Collar Required for My Dog?Yes — for safety and licensing reasons, all dogs in our care must wear one of our Wagging Trails collars with ID tags and a tracker. This helps us keep every dog safe, secure, and easily identifiable at all times, whether we’re on a walk or out at the park. Why We Use Our Own Collars We completely understand that some owners have specific preferences when it comes to collars or tracking devices — and we’ll always be respectful of that. However, using our own set-up means: We can quickly identify and locate your dog in an emergency All dogs are covered by our licensing and safety protocols We maintain consistency and control across the whole group Not Used to Wearing a Collar? That’s no problem at all. If your dog isn’t used to wearing a collar, just let us know in advance — we’ll be happy to: Offer tips and support Work gently with your dog to help them feel comfortable wearing one before their stay Our priority is always your dog’s safety, comfort, and confidence. Need to cancel or reschedule a booking? We know life happens — here’s how it works.
-
What Happens if I Need to Cancel My Booking? We understand that life isn’t always predictable — and we’ll always do our best to be fair and flexible where we can. Here’s how cancellations, reschedules, and pause days work depending on the type of care your dog is booked in for. Home Boarding Cancellations (Members Only) If you need to cancel a confirmed boarding stay, the following notice periods apply: Less than 7 days’ notice – 100% of the booking fee 7–14 days’ notice – 75% of the booking fee 14–21 days’ notice – 50% of the booking fee 21–28 days’ notice – 25% of the booking fee More than 28 days’ notice – Full refund of any payments made Dog Day Care Membership Pause Days Each family receives pause days per calendar year (prorated depending on when you join). Rescheduling Days You’re welcome to swap your regular day to another within a 7-day window before or after, with at least 5 days’ notice, subject to availability.
